Poison and a Seplicaure

Cory Trout

ABOUT

Written in early 2023, “Poison and a Seplicaure” is a poem by Cory Trout. Romans 3:13 “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:”

POEM

The poison of asps is under their lips. Poisoned by their mouths, I now stagger. Their throat is an open seplicaure. Swallowed by swollen words, I now sleep in the grave of a throat.

The poison of their words has stunned me; The pit of their throat has swallowed me whole. There is none to help me, O JAH. O, Almighty! LORD, lift me up, and deliver me. Lord, save me.
